About Annapurna Circuit Trek

The Annapurna Circuit Trek is a legendary adventure that attracts trekkers from all corners of the globe. Renowned as one of the most diverse and rewarding trekking routes in Nepal, it offers an extraordinary journey through the Annapurna region’s breathtaking landscapes and cultural richness.

In 2025, the Annapurna Circuit promises to deliver a rejuvenated experience for adventurers seeking a blend of challenge and serenity. The trek spans approximately 14 to 20 days, depending on your pace and itinerary, covering a distance of around 160-230 kilometers. Starting from the lush green valleys of Besisahar, the trail ascends through terraced farmlands, picturesque villages, and rhododendron forests, eventually leading to the high-altitude desert-like terrain of Manang and beyond.

The crown jewel of the trek is the Thorong La Pass (5,416 meters), one of the highest navigable passes in the world. Reaching its summit rewards you with panoramic views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and other majestic Himalayan peaks. The trek also offers cultural immersion as you encounter diverse ethnic communities, including Gurung, Thakali, and Tibetan-influenced villages, each with their unique traditions and warm hospitality.

DAY 1 | Arrival In Kathmandu (1350 M)

Upon your arrival, one of our representatives will be waiting for you at the airport. After completing official formalities at the airport terminal, you will be transferred to the hotel booked for you where you can rest and relax.

Since we do not need to fulfill any documentation and briefing sessions for trekkings, we start our journey on Day 2. We drive to Besisahar via a Private Jeep enjoying the beautiful sceneries throughout the way. The settlements on the hilly side, the roadside hotels, waterfalls, numerous small rivers, and suspension bridges, and the never-ending views of giant snow-capped Mountains at a distance will make your road trip a trip to remember. We stop at Besisahar to rest overnight.

The next day we wake up for some scrumptious breakfast that will keep us full until we reach our destination for lunch. We may trek to Chame via trekking route as well but in this customized trip we take our jeep to Chame, the district headquarter of Manang District. Surrounded by green trees of maple, fir, pine, and junipers, enjoying the view of the Lamjung Himal, Annapurna II, and IV, we spend our night in a cozy lodge in Chame and taste some authentic food for dinner. We then rest as we have a big day the following day.

With the striking views of the gigantic Annapurna Massif in the outskirts, we slowly trek towards Pisang. Following some narrow and steep valley, we will get to witness the sight of Paungda Danda Rock Face that rises 1500m above the river and is a subsidiary of Pisang Peak. As we gain some elevation, we will make sure that we remain careful and safe.

Our next stop in the trail is the Manang valley itself. Walking past the Tibetan settlements, exploring the Buddhist culture, and gradually feeling the change in humidity and speed of air, we keep our feet on the trail until we reach Manang to rest overnight. We stay in Manang the next day to acclimate our bodies and explore the nearby areas. One of the attractions is the Barge Monastery, the largest one in Manang. We will also go on short hikes up to Gangapurna Lake and the Base Camp.  The views of Annapurna III, Tilicho, Pisang Peak, and Chulu peaks are simply marvelous and will easily help to spend the rest of your day in Manang.

After acclimatizing in Manang, we head towards the Tilicho Base Camp at 4600 meters. This trek is going to be strenuous and tough as we cover almost 19.8 kilometers and gain an elevation of about 1100 meters. On our way, we stop at the beautiful Khangsar village to admire its beauty and move towards Shiri Kharka. We will have lunch at one of these villages as the way up to the Tilicho Base Camp is a bit challenging through the landslide areas, narrow trails, and hanging bridges at some points. We then reach the Tilicho Lake Base Camp to rest overnight at a lodge.

We take an early morning hike up to Tilicho Lake via the descent uphill climb through the rocky and rugged path. It will take you some moment to admire and realize the beauty of the lake, the lake at the highest altitude. The turquoise blue water, the chilly cold temperature, and the waves of wind will give you goosebumps. The spellbinding lake that also holds some religious significance as the ancient Kak Bhusundi lake mentioned in the Epic Ramayana, is one of the best destinations in this trek. After spending some good time at Tilicho Lake, we slowly descend to Lethdar to rest overnight.

After resting overnight at Lethdar, we trek towards Thorong High Camp at 4800 meters. As it is very challenging to cross the Thorong La pass from Lethdar in a single day, we take a night’s rest at Thorong High Camp which will allow enough time for us to move early in the morning and acclimate ourselves for Thorong La Pass as well. In winter, crossing the Thorong La Pass is almost impossible because of heavy snowfall, avalanches, frostbites, and whiteouts.

In winter, crossing the Thorong La Pass is almost impossible because of heavy snowfall, avalanches, frostbites, and whiteouts.

This is the day when we get to the highest point of the overall trek. We start our trek early in the morning before sunrise to avoid the wind. From Thorong La High Camp, we ascend slowly and steadily until we cross the Thorong La Pass, the world’s highest pass which is also the most widely used. After crossing Thorong La, we gradually descend towards Muktinath in the Mustang District. The elevation decreases sharply as we descend about 1600 meters. In Muktinath, we visit the temple, sacred to both the Hindus and Buddhist followers. The natural spring water flows from 108 taps in the outer courtyard of Muktinath where people bathe even during freezing cold temperatures.

Tatopani is located along the way back from Mustang to Beni. We stop here for a special purpose which is the natural hot water spring. We stay here overnight and relax in the natural hot water which will release your body off the pressure and pain. It is a natural healing therapy and you can spend hours in the pond. We will then have some wonderful dinner and rest overnight at a cozy lodge.

We will start our day early as we need to cover almost 1650 meters elevation. The trek will be a bit tiring because of the elevation gain but will be equally rewarding and fulfilling because the trail goes through lush green forests of Rhododendrons, pines, and junipers. The views of the mountain ranges in the background will surely keep you motivated all along the way. We will then rest overnight at Ghorepani.

From Ghorepani, we hike for about an hour to reach the sunrise viewpoint Poonhill. We will start early so as to make it before sunrise. Poonhill is a popular destination for sunrise and sunset as well as majestic views of giant Annapurna massif along with Nilgiri, Tukuche Peak, Dhaulagiri Range, Machhapuchhre, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna, Gurja Himal, and others. After spending some memorable time in Poonhill we have some nice breakfast and hit the trail towards Ulleri from where we will take our jeep to Pokhara.

Pokhara is a beautiful city with lots of adventurous activities like boating, paragliding, skydiving, zip line, and many more. There are many other attractions like the Bat Cave, Mahendra Cave, Davis Falls, The World Peace Stupa, Fewa Lake, Begnas Lake, and many more. So, we dedicate this day of our trip to enjoying the beauty of this magnificent city.

NOTE: Any additional adventurous activity will be entitled to extra cost.

After having a luxurious day at Pokhara, we now pack our bags and drive to Kathmandu enjoying the scenery on the hillside along the highway. In Kathmandu, you will be transferred to the hotel and we will see you in the evening for farewell dinner.
